I loved this band in the 90s just because they utterly rocked and rolled, but only now, revisiting them in 2021 am I appreciating their incredible artistry. What a trip!
Wow I love this song. Idk if the singer is narcoleptic but It so perfectly captures what it feels like to have narcolepsy. It alone and drowning, desperately trying to swim out of jt but the nightmares keep pulling you back. People talk about wanting to have more vivid and lucid dreams but all I want is to be less in touch with my subconscious dream self.
1:51 The drums kick the doors in and that's when the song starts firing on all cylinders. One of my all time favorite songs. This and Lust For Life always remind me of 1998. Such an exciting year.
Severely underrated track. I miss the 90s ha... But it's not just nostalgia either. "The Background" and this track is still fucking amazing. The whole album was quality.👌
I have some PTSD from my combat tour... i used to have alot of trouble trying to explain how (at times) it made me feel other that just..."upset"...but this song: " ...(How'd you like to be) alone and drowning? <-- that's pretty much it... :(
This song is very powerful yet speaks to so few... When sometimes sleeping will be a nightmare, but yet dread being awake at same time...but yet you'd rather live the nightmare than be in an even worse one in your sleep...
+Concepcion Regalado its about the singer waking up but half asleep and being unable to move, not about narcolepsy or PTSD, its about his personal experience.
+White Star, Lol, I realized that the first time someone commented. But thanks for informing me about how it was actually his experience, I didn't know that. :)
+White Star - sleep paralysis- thats interresting, i have sleep paraysis up to 10x's weekly...terrified me as a kid, but because i get it so often, i kinda am "aware" of what it is while in the state...if you know what i mean by that lol!
i wouldnt say that is entirley true... Third eye blind is more than that jaded 90's attitude have you listened to the debut album at all? It's not just about sex and drugs it's about stephen jenkins personal experiences and his interpertation of everything that has happened to him... Listen to the song The background or Wounded. both fantastic and both not about jaded attitude.
one of the ways they diagnose narcplepsy is early onset of REM or dream sleep....hence the line "I can feel this narcolepsy slide into another nightmare
ouch......
I have narcolepsy and my husband just showed me this song 😭
great song about despair....
I'll forever have a soft spot for this track, and "The Background." The whole album was therapeutic for me haha 💥🎸.
: )

I love the solo. Also, my mom has narcolepsy and it’s a terrible disease. Thanks Third Eye Blind for bringing awareness to this disease.

Narcoleptic here. This song is so f*ckin on point.
Listening to this album it’s easy to see how much influence Adam Lazara from taking back Sunday took from Steven

Fantastic song, but that ending has to be my fav of all time. The louder the better!

I thought they said keep away. I guess if you feel a certain way, you hear the lyrics that match.

I'm so sorry you're going through that. PTSD is truly horrible. This song really does describe what it's like..
April Dalaman -thanks April. god bless you, and your family.
Mike Kathary Mike- yeah, it's hard to describe to someone who's never experienced it. But you know. God bless you and your family. :)
*Here:* 00:49 and *Here:* 2:52
Sounds like a song about ptsd.
its about narcolepsy...duh lol

White Star lmao were you made in a lab or is it just good old fashion government education lololol
too bad most of third eye blinds other songs project a jaded attitude about sex and relationships. this one is a goldie though.
i wouldnt say that is entirley true... Third eye blind is more than that jaded 90's attitude have you listened to the debut album at all? growing up in the 90's led me to this song \m/
one of the ways they diagnose narcplepsy is early onset of REM or dream sleep....hence the line "I can feel this narcolepsy slide into another nightmare
lmao you people clearly have no idea what narcolepsy truly is, otherwise this song would make perfect sense to you
Narcolepsy is a condition that makes you fall asleep so the "How would you like to we alone and drowning" part is a hint to that.
